Can I Have an MRI with a Freedom PNS Implant?

Some permanent Freedom PNS configurations are labeled full-body MR Conditional at 1.5T and 3T, under specific manufacturer conditions. This is not blanket clearance for any implant or any scan. Freedom trial devices are MR Unsafe.

Your exact system matters

Bring your medical implant card. The implanting team and MRI center must confirm the model, implant location, complete system, and current manufacturer scan requirements. Other implants and your health history also affect eligibility.

Keep external equipment outside

The external transmitter assembly and wearable accessory must stay outside the MRI room. Do not enter for a scan until the imaging team confirms the required preparation and eligibility.

Use the current U.S. MRI instructions

Ask your imaging center to review the manufacturer’s U.S. MRI Instructions for Use linked below. A statement about scanner strength in a brochure or a video is not enough to clear your scan.

Plan ahead

Tell the doctor ordering the MRI that you have an implanted PNS system. Contact your implanting team before booking. If eligibility cannot be confirmed, discuss the next steps and possible imaging alternatives with the clinicians involved. Tell MRI staff immediately about unexpected sensations during a scan.
